Story:

For many years, Liberty Falls had only one bank on Main Street: the original business started by the Clark and DuBois families during the town’s early mining days. But with all the wealth and commerce in this thriving Colorado city, it came as no surprise that other financiers saw the area as very attractive for new business. Thus the “First Bank of Liberty Falls” opened just a few blocks away from the Clark and DuBois establishment. Always gracious, the second-generation Clark and DuBois bankers issued a news release welcoming their competitors to town. For his part, Gerald Johnson, the First Bank’s Chairman of the Board, complimented the Clark and DuBois families for their many contributions to the growth of Liberty Falls. In fact, it seemed the new bank would have a different focus than the Clark and DuBois bank. The “First Bank of Liberty Falls” positioned itself as the people’s bank—offering smaller loans for start-up businesses, mortgage loans, and—one of the newest “profit centers” for banks across the nation—financing for “horseless carriages”! Unlike the old bank, which seldom saw a woman or a child within its conservative walls, the “First Bank of Liberty Falls” also offered savings accounts with no minimum balance. So you’d often see youngsters bringing the proceeds of their piggybanks in to start an account for the future.
